The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) is the national body regulating armwrestling in Ghana — affiliated to the World Armwrestling Federation and home of the Golden Arms.

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) is a nationally recognized sports organization dedicated to promoting the sport of armwrestling across Ghana. Since our establishment in 2016, we’ve grown into one of Africa’s most successful federations — uniting athletes, empowering communities, and elevating Ghana on the world stage.

We train, develop and support armwrestling talent through structured programs, competitive platforms, and international exposure. Through the Golden Arms national team, our certified coaches and referees, and vibrant regional clubs, we are not only building champions — we are building legacies.

Meet the President

Charles Osei Asibey

Charles Osei Asibey – President Ghana Armwrestling Federation

Charles Osei Asibey, affectionately known as “The Barrister,” is a distinguished figure in sports administration and communications. With a career spanning three decades in broadcast journalism, he has been instrumental in elevating Armwrestling from a recreational activity to a recognized competitive sport in Ghana and across Africa.

In 2016, Mr. Asibey founded the Ghana Armwrestling Federation — the 40th sporting federation recognized by the National Sports Authority. Under his leadership, GAF hosted and won the 2018, 2023 and 2026 Africa Armwrestling Championships and built a robust national team known as the Golden Arms.

In July 2022 he was elected President of the Africa Armwrestling Federation — the first Ghanaian to hold the position — and appointed Vice President of the World Armwrestling Federation. He was re-elected in July 2026 as the leader of Africa Armwrestling. He also serves as General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and Communications Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee, He was honored as Best Sports Administrator by 3G Media (USA) in 2019 and best sports administrator by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.
