NEW DELHI, INDIA – The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) has released an official congratulatory statement celebrating the national team, the Golden Arms, following their extraordinary and unprecedented performance at the 47th World Armwrestling Championship in New Delhi, India.

In what is being hailed across the sports community as one of the most remarkable global feats in Ghanaian sports history, the national team conquered the tables to bring home an impressive tally of eight (8) world medals – four (4) Gold and four (4) Silver.

The Federation paid glowing tribute to the five extraordinary pullers whose individual brilliance and technical mastery powered Team Ghana to global glory:

In a statement signed by the Federation’s Executive Board, GAF expressed profound gratitude to the athletes, coaches, and technical crew, describing their victories as a testament to fortitude, discipline, and national pride.

Reflecting on the severe pre-tournament financial constraints that faced the 12-person delegation, the Federation praised the team’s ability to triumph against the odds:

“You traveled with little, but you grappled for global glory and brought back so much! You had almost nothing, yet you returned with something priceless—world medals, glory, pride, and honor for Ghana. You have once again shown that greatness is not determined by the resources available, but by the strength of the heart, the power of determination, and the courage to compete.” – Executive Board, Ghana Armwrestling Federation.

The World Championship victory holds special significance for GAF as it coincides with the Federation’s 10th Anniversary celebrations under the banner “From Vision to Victory.”

With an astounding career tally exceeding 570 international medals since its inception, the Federation emphasized that the triumphs in India are no fluke, but rather the fruition of a deliberate, decade-long commitment to athlete development, technical excellence, and vision.

GAF extended special recognition to Head Coach Husseini Akueteh Addy, Assistant Coach Nii Otoo Larkyne, the technical department, and management for their silent sacrifices behind the scenes.

With their status as global elite pullers firmly established, the Ghana Armwrestling Federation confirmed that focus now shifts toward preparing for the 2027 Africa Games in Egypt, alongside driving the sport’s ongoing integration into the Commonwealth and Olympic movements.
