Albena, Bulgaria – September 2025
The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) proudly announces that the national team, the Golden Arms, has secured three medals at the 47th World Armwrestling and 27th Para Armwrestling Championships held in Albena, Bulgaria.
Representing Ghana on the world stage, Prison Officer Mabel Yeboah and Immigration Officer Blessed Abeka Nunoo showcased determination, strength, and resilience against over 1,300 athletes from 92 countries.

- Mabel Yeboah (Prisons Service) – 1 Silver, 1 Bronze (Women’s 60kg category).
- Blessed Abeka Nunoo (Immigration Service) – 1 Silver (Junior 60kg category).
This achievement underscores Ghana’s growing reputation in the global armwrestling arena. Four-time African Champion Mabel Yeboah carried her continental dominance to the world stage, while Blessed Abeka Nunoo improved on her previous world performance, breaking into the medals with a spirited silver finish.




Speaking after the event, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation and Vice President of the World Armwrestling Federation, commended the athletes:
“The Golden Arms continue to demonstrate that Ghana belongs among the very best in world armwrestling. Winning medals at such a competitive global championship is a testament to the hard work, resilience, and discipline of our athletes. We are extremely proud of Mabel and Blessed for their historic performances.”
The Golden Arms’ latest success brings Ghana’s total international medal tally to over 405 medals across continental and global competitions. GAF continues to call on stakeholders, government, and corporate Ghana to support the team as they fly the flag high in international competition.
