President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) and Africa Armwrestling, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, has been unanimously re-elected as Vice President of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) during the 47th WAF Congress in Albena, Bulgaria. His renewed mandate extends his stewardship with the global body until 2029.
Mr. Osei Asibey’s re-election reflects his outstanding achievements, tireless dedication, and global recognition as a leader in armwrestling. Delegates applauded his vision, which has consistently expanded the sport’s influence in Ghana, across Africa, and on the world stage.

“I am giddy, elated, and poised to further influence the development and promotion of armwrestling to new heights, leveraging my network to drive growth, innovation, and excellence in the sport,” Mr. Osei Asibey said following his re-election.
Since founding the Ghana Armwrestling Federation in 2016, Mr. Osei Asibey has transformed armwrestling into one of Ghana’s most successful sports. Under his leadership:
- Ghana has amassed 405 medals at continental and global levels.
- Armwrestling was officially recognized by the African Games, securing its place in Africa’s elite multi-sport competitions.
- In 2022, he was elected President of Africa Armwrestling, cementing Ghana’s influence in continental sports governance.

His hard work and vision have earned respect across federations, positioning him as a key architect of the sport’s development worldwide.
As Vice President, Mr. Osei Asibey will work closely with the WAF President and executive team to:
- Increase global participation in armwrestling.
- Improve competition standards across countries.
- Shape long-term strategies for the sport’s growth and visibility.
His continued leadership ensures Ghana remains at the forefront of international armwrestling, inspiring a new generation of athletes.
