Accra, February 25, 2025 – The leadership of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), led by its President, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, to formally congratulate him and reaffirm their commitment to national sporting development.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s conference room, served as an official introduction of the GAF executive body to the Minister. In his remarks, Mr. Asibey praised Hon. Adams’ appointment, expressing full confidence in his ability to elevate all sporting disciplines, especially those with limited financial support.

“We believe strongly in your capacity to transform sports in Ghana,” Mr. Asibey stated. “Armwrestling stands ready to support your vision. This discipline delivered Ghana’s highest medal haul — 41 medals — at the 13th African Games, and we are confident it can achieve even greater results with the right attention.”
The GAF President also highlighted the strategic value of armwrestling and its readiness to contribute significantly to Ghana’s international sports reputation. He assured the Minister of the full cooperation and support of the Federation’s leadership in advancing the Ministry’s goals.
In response, Hon. Kofi Adams expressed sincere appreciation for the visit and applauded the Federation’s achievements. He commended the quality of leadership within GAF, noting that many of its executives hold influential positions at continental and global levels — a fact he said directly reflects the sport’s rapid growth and stellar performance.

“Your impact has not gone unnoticed,” Hon. Adams noted. “I am pleased to see such a highly capable team steering the affairs of armwrestling. The Ministry stands ready to work with you closely to unlock the sport’s full potential.”
The meeting ended with mutual goodwill and a shared vision to advance Ghana’s sporting excellence through strategic partnerships and focused investment in emerging disciplines like armwrestling.
