Ghana’s Golden Arms Triumph at 2025 Independence Armwrestling Challenge

Accra, March 17, 2025 – Ghana’s national armwrestling team, the Golden Arms, once again demonstrated their continental dominance as they stormed to victory at the 2025 Independence Armwrestling Challenge, held in Accra.

The high-energy competition, which drew top contenders from across West Africa, formed part of Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebrations. The Golden Arms delivered an impressive performance across all categories, clinching multiple gold medals and thrilling fans with their strength, skill, and sportsmanship.

Key performances came from elite athletes including Grace Mintah, who continued her winning streak in the women’s heavyweight division, and Joshua Yeboah, who asserted his regional supremacy in the men’s 90kg class. Rising stars such as Wisdom Abromekyi also made headlines with a decisive gold-medal finish in the lightweight category.

“This victory is not just about medals. It is about national pride, youth empowerment, and showcasing Ghana’s place on the global armwrestling map,” said Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation.

The event featured competitors from Nigeria, Togo, and Benin, elevating its prestige and competitive standard. Hosted at the Centre Point Mall in Accra, the venue was packed with supporters, dignitaries, and sport development advocates, all cheering for what has become one of the most exciting annual fixtures in Ghana’s sporting calendar.

The Independence Challenge not only spotlighted individual brilliance but reinforced the Federation’s mission to promote armwrestling as a unifying sport for youth development and national recognition.
